For the Payloader II, Estes went back to the archives, pulled up old drawings and spec sheets and recreated this popular rocket that first soared onto the scene in the 1970’s. A clear payload section is just an added bonus to this great "Classic" making an appearance for the first time in many years. From the Skill Level 1 Series, in just a few short hours you’ll be launching just about anything you can think of in the clear payload section 1,000 feet into the sky.

Build History

• 12/27/2013 – Purchased Estes Payloader II from Estes for $2.69 (Retail $21.79).
• 12/26/2017 – Took pictures of package and components.
• 12/27/2017 – Scanned components and instructions.
• 12/31/2018 – Made copy of tube marking guide and shock cord mount. Marked body tube for fin and launch lug placement. Glued 2 fins to body tube.
• 01/01/2018 – Glued remaining 2 fins to body tube and filleted fin joints. Glued shock cord to shock cord mount and then inside forward end if body tube 2″. Glued launch lug to body tube and filleted joints.
• 09/19/2022 – Spray painted nose cone with Krylon #8803 gloss banner red.
• 09/22/2022 – Spray painted 1/4″ of forward end of body tube with Krylon #8803 Banner Red Gloss. Removed masking.
• 10/10/2023 – Spray painted body tube with Rust-oleum #328373 High Gloss White. Sanded Nose Con With 120, 220. & 600 grit sandpaper. Spray painted nose cone with Rust-oleum #371767 High Gloss Majenta Red.
• 10/12/2023 – Masked body tube and spray painted fins with Rust-oleum #776830 Gloss Sunrise Red.
• 12/16/2023 – Cut decals from decal sheet and applied water slide decals to model using photo card as guide. This completes construction of Estes #3022 Payloader II model rocket. Took picture of finished model rocket.
