Build History
- 12/27/2013 – took Purchased Estes #3016 Long Tom from Estes for $4.09 (Retail $26.99).
- 06/01/2020 – Took pictures of package and components. Scanned some parts, decals and instructions.
- 06/02/2020 – Scanned plans and components. Measured components and recorded them in Book #4 Page 64. Sanded fins and rounded leading edges. Made a copy of shock cord mount and fin marking guide. Cut out the copies. Marked booster and second stage body tubes for fin placement. Glued fins on these reference lines.
- 06/03/2020 – Filleted all fin joints with yellow glue. Glued centering rings to motor mount tubes and filleted joints with yellow glue. Glued motor mount assemblies into each respective body tube.
- 06/04/2020 – Screwed and glued screw eye into bottom of adapter.
- 06/10/2020 – Glued shock cord to shock cord mount and then 2″ inside forward end of upper body tube.
- 03/21/2021 – Spray painted entire model with Krylon White Primer.
- 08/21/2023 – Masked body tubes. Spray painted fins of booster and sustainer with Rust-o-leum #328374 High Gloss Black.
- 08/30/2023 – Masked main body tube near fins as per instructions.
- 08/31/2023 – Spray painted with Rust-o-leum #328374 High Gloss Black.
- 09/01/2023 – Applied water slide decals. This completes construction of Estes Lon Tom model rocket #3016.
