Build History
- 08/03/2010 – Purchased Estes Photon Disruptor from Hobby Lobby in Columbus, IN for $11.99 (Retail $19.98).
- 08/22/2010 – Took pictures of package. Scanned instructions. Measured components, traced fin patterns and recorded them on page 112 of Book #3. Took pictures of package front and back.
- 10/07/2019 – Package was photographed and contents scanned. Parts were measured and recorded in Book #4 Page #48.
- 10/08/2019 – Sanded fin balsa parts and glued fin tips to fins. Rounded fin edges. Glued fins to body tube and filleted joints with yellow glue. Measured motor mount tube at 2-1/2″ & 1″ from aft end. Cut a 1/8″ slot on the 2-1/2″ mark and inserted engine hook. Slid end of green adapter ring to 1″ mark and glued in place. Glued engine block even with forward end of motor mount tube.
- 10/09/2019 – Marked lower body tube using tube marking guide and 1-1/4″ from forward end.and glued on one centering ring. Glued the other centering ring even with the forward end. Glued upper and lower dorsal fins to lower body tube. with yellow glue.
- 10/10/2019 – Glued fins to lower body tube.
- 10/11/2019 – Glued lower body assembly into upper body tube. Glued launch lugto upper body tube. Screwed with glue screw eye into base of nose cone. Glued engine mount assembly into aft end of lower body tube. Glued shock cord to shock cord mount and then inside forward end of lower body tube by 2″. Filleted launch lug joints. Tied shock cord to screw eye.
- 07/22/2021 – Spray painted entire model with white primer.
- 10/01/2023 – Masked 1/4″ to aft end and 6-1/2″ forward on upper body tube. Spray painted with Krylon #3421 Gloss Pumpkin Orange.
- 11/12/2023 – Hand painted over black areas which extended into white areas with Practa #A47 Flat White Acrylic Paint.
