Standing over 2 feet tall, the Expedition is a high performance sport rocket! Launched on Estes C11, D and E model rocket engines, this rocket will go well over 1,000 feet! A little bit of a challenge to build but a rocket you will be proud to have in your collection!

Build History
- 02/10/2017 – Purchased Estes #7249 Expedition from Estes for $14.99 (Retail $24.99).
- 02/11/2017 – Took pictures of package and its contents. Scanned the plans, decal, cover sheet, gins and card.
- 02/12/2017 – Measured components and recorded on page 6 Book #4.
- 10/24/2017 – Made copy of page 2 and cut out marking guide, shock cord mount and template.
- 11/02/2017 – Marked motor mount, glued centering rings and engine holder into place. Assembled engine shroud. Glued engine block into place. Marked body tube with guide. Cut out fairings from body tube material using marking guide. Glued fairing ends to fairing tubes. Pushed out fins from balsa sheet and glued them into the body tube slots. Using the fairing tube guide, glued fairings to body tube. Glued upper shroud to body tube.
- 08/23/2022 – After applying sanding putty and allowing to dry, used 60 git sandpaper to smooth putty. Spray painted model with primer and sanded with 150 git sandpaper. Wiped with alcohol wiper and spray painted with Krylon #3429 gloss white. Spray painted a second time with Krylon #3429 Gloss White.
- 10/04/2023 – Spray painted nose cone with Rust-o-leum #371767 High Gloss Majestic Red.
- 10/05/2023 – Masked around tanks.
- 10/06/2023 – Spray painted body tube with Rust-o-leum #327892 Gloss Brillant Blue. Cut a 75″ piece of 1/4″ elastic cord for shock cord. Removed flashing from eye hook in base of nose cone. Glued shock cord to shock cord mount and then 2″ from forward edge of body tube. Tied other end of shock cord to nose cone.
- 12/14/2023 – Cut decals from decal sheet and applied water slide decals to model. This completes construction of Estes #7249 Expedition model rocket. Took picture of finished model rocket.
