Build History

  • 08/15/2002 – Purchased Estes Rattler-7 from Rocket Gals for $6.00 (Retail $9.49)
  • 09/19/2002 – Took pictures and scanned in decals and plans. Opened kit and inventoried all items. All parts were included. Measured the blue engine mount tube at 1″ and 2-1/2″ from aft end. Cut a 1/8″ slit at the 2-1/2″ mark and inserted the engine retainer hook. Slid the black engine retainer ring over the holder and up to the 1″ mark. Glued the ring in place to hold the retainer. Glued the green adapter ring to the forward end of the engine retainer is even with the fin unit. The adapter extends 1/16″ beyond the end of the fin unit. Marked a straight line along the larger diameter body tube and measured 4-1/2″ from the end of the tube. Cut a 1/8″ slot at the mark. Applied a ring of cement to the fin unit ring. Aligned the mark with one of the fins and cemented the upper launch lug ring over the shock cord and cemented the lower launch lug ring next to the fin assembly. Used a lunch rod to keep the lugs aligned. Tied the other end of the shock cord to the upper section. Cemented the body tube to the adapter and nose cone. Filled the nose cone with clay. Did not use the 12″ parachute. Applied decal to model. No paint required. This completes construction of Estes Rattler-7 model rocket #2150.
