Build History

  • 09/09/2002 – Purchased Estes #1262 Cosmic Cobra from HobbyLinc for $5.59 (Retail $7.99)
  • 09/18/2002 – Opened kit and found all part included. Took pictures and scanned plans and decals. Measured various components and recorded them on page8 Book #2. Cemented engine mount halves together and let dry. Cemented assembled engine mount to yellow body tube. Marked body tube 4″ from aft end and cemented launch lug to body tube cementing the launch lug at the 4″ mark and midway between two fins. Cemented the black ring onto the rear of the nose cone so the slot in the ring aligns with the nose cone eyelet. Cut out the shock cord mount and affixed the shock cord to it. Glued the shock cord to the inside of the forward end of the body tube by at least 2″. Snapped the helicopter blades into the ring. Did not install the rubber bands at this time so they would not stretch out of shape. They will be installed just before launch. Attached a snap swivel to the 12″ parachute. Made a loop in the end of the shock cord. Applied decals to the model. This completes construction of Estes Cosmic Cobra model rocket #1262. No paint is required.
