Description

The Photon Disruptor by Estes is a Sci-Fi stylized, multi-finned interstellar torpedo carrying a Radiation Flux-tipped warhead. Built by the Space Weapons Division (SWD), it is designated variant: Mod ptx-t1103 APP-RAD. 8-214.

Build History

• 12/27/2013 – Purchased Estes Photon Disruptor from Estes for $2.99 (Retail $21.79).
• 10/07/2019 – Opened package, photographed contents and scanned various components.
• 10/08/2019 – Glued fin tip to fin after sanding and rounding leading ledge. Measured motor mount tube at 2-1/2″ & 1″ from aft end. Cut a 1/8″ slot at 2-1/2″ mark and installed engine retainer hook. Slid end of green adapter ring to 1″ mark and glued it in place. Glued engine block even with forward end of motor mount tube.
• 10/09/2019 – Marked lower body tube using tube marking guide. Moared lower body tube 1-3/4″ from forward end and glued one centering ring at mark. Glued the other centering ring even with forward end of lower body tube. Glued dorsal fins on upper body tube.
• 10/10/2019 – Glued lower body tube fins in place and filleted joints.
• 10/11/2019 – Glued lower body tube assembly to upper body tube assembly. Glued launch lug to upper body tube. Screwed and glued screw eye into nose cone base. Glued engine mount assembly into lower body tube aft end. Glued shock cord to shock cord mount and then 2″ inside lower body tube. Filleted all joints. Tied end of shock cord to screw eye in nose cone.
• 12/17/2023 – Applied water slide decals to model with aid of photo card as guide. This completes construction of Estes #3025 Photon Disruptor model rocket. Took picture of finished model rocket.
