Build History

- 11/07/2023 – Took pictures of components and instructions.
- 11/10/2023 – Took pictures of transition and group photo of all components and instructions.
- 11/18/2023 – Cut a 1/8″ slot 1/8″ from forward end of motor mount tube. Glued engine block flush with inside forward edge of motor mount tube. Inserted engine retainer into slot and slid retainer ring/centering ring over engine retainer 1″ from aft end of motor mount tube. Applied yellow glue joint fillets. Tied 40″ of Kevlar around retainer forward end and between motor mount tube and retainer. Secured it with a dab of yellow glue.
- 11/19/2023 – Took picture of motor mount assembly. Cut 4 fins from stock balsa sheet of 0.0905″ thickness. Took replacement pictures of components. Added 1/8″ x 2-1/4″ launch lug and 36″ x 1/8″ x 0 0285″ shock cord to kit. Cut 4 fins from balsa stock (0.0905″ thick. See page 54 for size). Sanded fins with 120, 200, and 600 grit sandpapers. Rounded leading edges and tapered trailing edges. Made copy of fin marking guide and maeked BT-50 body tube with it. Glued motor mount assembly into aft end of BT-50 with motor mount tube and body tube ends flush. Glued balsa taper to BT-20 and inserted nose cone in opposite end. Glued fins to BT-50 body tube flush with aft end.
- 11/20/2023 – Filleted fin joints. Glued dowel into base of balsa taper and glued launch lug to a fin joint. Filleted launch lug joints. Took picture of unpainted model rocket.
- 11/28/2023 – Masked upper and lower body tubes.
- 11/30/2023 – Spray painted with Rust-olum #7435 Green.
- 12/03/2023 – Spray painted nose cone again with Rust-oleum #7435 Green. Removed masking.
- 12/04/2023 – Applied Water Slide decals using photo card as guide. This completes Cygnus Blazer model rocket. Took photograph of finished model rocket.
