Build History

• 05/17/2007 – Purchased Estes Mean Machine from Hobby Lobby in Columbus, IN for $14.99 (Retail $24.99).
• 05/17/2007 – Took pictures of package and components. Measurements are in Book #3 Page 66.
• 05/18/2007 – Cut out a copy of fin placement guide. Removed centering rings and glued them 1/4″ from each end of motor mount tub. Glued engine block into forward end of motor mount tube. Filleted centering ring joints. Glued engine mount assembly into lower body tube. Removed fins and sanded them smooth.Rounded leading edges and tapered trailing edges.
• 05/19/2007 – Marked lower body tube fin reference lines using fin placement guide 1″ from aft end. Glued fins to body tube. Filleted fin joints. Epoxied a tube coupler into each body tube to make a single long body tube. Spray painted nose cone pumpkin orange, upper body tube pink, 2nd body tube yellow, 3rd body tube red and lower body tube with fins black. Glued and filleted launch lugs before painting. Cut out a copy of shock cord mount and glued shock cord inside it and then 2″ inside upper body tube. Cut flash from nose cone eyelet and tie shock cord to it.
• 05/20/2007 – Applied decals to model. This completes construction of Estes #1295 Mean Machine.
