Build History

  • 06/13/1999 – Purchased NCR SA-14 from Hobbylinc for $55.79 (Retail – $79.99)
  • 12/05/2002 – Took pictures of package and components. Measured components and recorded them in Book #2 page 44.
  • 12/06/2002 – Sanded centering rings to fit 29 mm engine tube. Epoxied rear centering ring in place.
  • 12/22/2002 – Epoxied forward and middle centering ring into each position.
  • 12/23/2002 – Spread epoxy at 16″, 4-1/2″, and 3/4″ from rear on the inside of body tube. Attached one end of cable to screw eye and other end to shock cord. Using an 11mm 6-sided socket screwed the screw eye into the centering ring hole. Secured screw eye with epoxy.
  • 12/24/2002 – Cut 34″ slats in half. marked 1″ off bottom edge of each end. Cut a diagonal in each end to make 4 strakes. Rounded leading and tapered trailing edges of fins using a dremel tool. Taped fins with masking tape.
  • 12/25/2002 – Cut tape holding strakes together and removed all tape except on root edge. Epoxied tube coupler into lower body tube. Epoxied upper body tube over tube coupler.
  • 07/20/2003 – Sprayed fins and strakes with gray primer.
  • 07/24/2003 – Sanded fins and strakes with 400 grit sandpaper.
  • 08/18/2003 – Wiped with damp sponge allowed to dry and painted the fins with a second coat of Krylon #1318 gray primer
  • 06/30/2007 – Removed tape from root edges
  • 07/18/2007 – Using ASP 2 hour epoxy, epoxied 4 fins through body tube slots and onto the motor mount tube
  • 08/05/2007 – Filleted fin joints with 5 minute epoxy.
  • 05/16/2020 – Glued 4 strakes 8″ from aft end in line with fins.
  • 05/17/2020 – Filleted strake joints. Drilled 1/8″ holes into aft and middle centering rings. Epoxied 1010 buttons into each hole.
  • 05/18/2020 – Tied end of shock cord to nose cone. Except for paint and decals, this completes construction of North Cost Rocketry SA-14 Archer model rocket.
  • 03/05/2022 – Spray painted entire model with red prime.
  • 11/06/2023 – Spray painted entire model with Rust-oleum # 328373 High Gloss White.
  • 04/24/2024 – Spray painted strikes with Rust-oleum #328373 High Gloss White.
  • 04/26/2024 – Applied self-adhesive decals to model using instructions as a guide. This completes construction of NCR #3510 mid-powered model rocket.
