Build History
- 01/28/2020 – Purchased Estes ESAM-58 from Hobby Lobby in Columbus, IN for $11.99 (Retail $ ).
- 02/23/2020 – Took pictures of package and contents. Scanned contents. Made copy of page 2 of original instructions and cut out tube marking guide and shock cord mount. Glued smaller fins to aft end of body tube.
- 02/24/2020 – Glued larger fins 3″ from aft end of body tube using fin marking guide. Filleted all fins joints. Glued launch lug along joint of large fin half way between fins and in line with aft fin position. Filleted launch lug joints. Epoxied retainer ring to aft end of motor mount tube with HF Super Weld.
- 02/25/2020 – Glued shock cord to mount and then inside forward end of body tube by 2″.
- 12/07/2022 – Masked find and tail cone. Removed nose cone from shock cord.
- 12/11/2022 – Painted main body tube with Rust-olum #7786 Smoke Gray and nose cone with Krylon #3406 Gloss Banner Red.
- 12/12/2022 – Removed masking tape.
- 12/13/2022 – Masked body tube, tail cone and upper portion with plastic. Spray painted fins with Krylon # 8803 Gloss Banner Red.
- 12/14/2022 – Removed masking.
- 01/16/2023 – Spray painted masked model with Krylon #8803 Gloss Banner Red. Removed masking.
- 01/19/2023 – Masked fin and tail cone. Spray painted around fins with Rust-oleum #7786 Smoke Gray. Removed masking.
- 01/20/2023 – Cut decals from decal sheet.
- 05/15/2023 – Applied water slide decals using photo card and instructions as guides. Took pictures of finished model. Ths completes construction of Estes #0661 ESAM-58 model rocket.
