The Canadian Arrow teams V-2 based X-Prize rocket stand over 2′ tall and includes Laser Cut Balsa parts. It is safely recovered with a colorful fully assembled 18″ parachute. 1:24 Scale.

Build History

  • 02/28/2005 – Purchased Estes #2188 Canadian Arrow from Hobby Lobby in Columbus, IN for $12.00 (Retail $21.99).
  • 05/18/2020 – Took pictures of package, opened package and took pictures of components. Scanned components and instructions. Measurements are recorded on page 60 Book #4. Welded motor retainer to aft end of motor mount tube instead of using engine hook. Did not install engine block. Marked motor mount tube at 5-7/8″ from aft end. Glued small centering ring behind retainer. Glued centering ring to 5-7/8″ mark. Removed tail cone. Cut off tail cone ends. Filleted centering ring joints.
  • 05/19/2020 – Glued motor mount tube assembly into aft end of body tube. Used tail cone for depth of assembly. Sanded surface balsa fins and cut them out of balsa stock. Cemented tail cone to centering rings. Cut flash out of nose cone eyelet. Packed clay into forward end of nose cone. Glued fins to tail cone. Filleted fin joints with cement. Cut launch lug in half and glued it to body tube. Glued shock cord to mount and then 2″ inside froward end of body tube. This completes construction of Estes Canadian Arrow #2188 except for paint and decals.
  • 08/07/2021 – Spray painted with flat red primer.
