Build History

  • 08/15/2002 – Purchased Estes Pegasus from Rocket Gals for $6.25 (Retail $9.99).
  • 09/21/2002 – Opened kit. Inventoried parts and found all were included. The E2X Pegasus components were then photographed and the decal and plans were scanned. One difference noted with this kit is t he parachute requires assembly. No painting will be required as with most E2X kits. Measured the blue motor mount tube t 1″ and 2-1/2″ from aft of tube. Cut a 1/8″ slot at the 2-1/2″ mark and inserted the engine holder. Beaded glue just above the 1″ mark and slide the engine holder retainer ring up to the 1″ mark, wiping away excess glue. Inserted the assembled motor mount unit inside the fin unit, aligning the retainer clip with the slot in the fin unit until the ends are even. Spread glue around the motor mount tube and pushed the green adapter over it to the fin unit. Checked to assure the tubes remain even with each other. Lightly apply cement to the upper portion of the fin unit and apply a bead of glue at least 1″ inside the red body tube and allow to dry. Measure the body tube 1″ from the aft end of the fins and align with engine retainer clip. Glue the rear of the launch lug at this mark and along the body tube aligned with engine retainer clip. Tied shock cord to nose cone. Filleted launch lug joints. Applied self adhesive decals. This completes construction of Estes Pegasus model rocket #2076.
