Build History

  • 04/04/1999 – Purchased Estes Mercury Atlas from Hobbylinc for $38.19 (Retail $59.95).
  • 12/30/2020 – Took pictures of package and components.
  • 12/31/2020 – Marked motor mount tube at 1″, 3-1/8″, and 3-1/2″. Cut a 1/8″ slit at the 3-1/8″ mark and inserted the engine hook. Glued black tube coupler over clip at the 1″ mark. Glued a second black tube coupler at the 3-1/2″ mark. Removed die cut disks from card stock, Glued aft dik against aft tube coupler and middle disk against other coupler. Marked fin mount tube at 1″ and applied glue to centering ring. Glued forward centering ring to motor mount tube.
  • 01/01/2021 – Marked body tube with pattern sheet. Filleted motor mount tube assembly joints. Extended guide lines length of tube. Cut out areas on guide and marked body tube. Cut out body tube areas. Test fit engine mount and removed assembly. Cut 1st stage stiffener wrap from vaccum form and taped to body tube.
  • 01/02/2021 – Cut plastic stiffener from body tube cut out.
  • 02/24/2021 – Glued stiffener to body tube.
