Build History

  • 02/25/2003 – Purchased Quest Lightning from Hobbylinc for $7.29 (Retail $8.99)
  • 03/25/2003 – Measured fins, nose cone, and body tube. Traced fin, nose cone and measurements onto page 56 Book #2. Started construction of kit. Tied white elastic shock cord and Kevlar cord together and tied free end of Kevlar cord around motor mount tube. Cemented motor housing halves together with gray motor tube positioned into tabs of motor housing. Cemented all four fins into motor housing slots and placed fin locking ring over aft end of motor housing into ring slot. Cemented white body tube into motor housing before attaching fins. Cemented base of nosed cone in place. Pulled shock cords through body tube and out the front. Tied white cord to nose cone base. Applied 6 grippers over holes in parachute material. Tied black shroud line to snap swivel by pulling parachute through loops and over the snap swivel to secure the shroud lines to snap swivel. Attached 14″ parachute with snap swivel to nose cone base and stuffed it inside the body tube. Applied metal type self adhesive decals to body tube and fins as shown in diagram and pictures. This completes construction of Quest Lightning model rocket #1606.
