Build History
- 11/18/2024 – Took pictures of package and components. Scanned several components. Took measurements and recorded on Page 92 of Model Rocket Notes Book #5.
- 11/20/2024 – Cut out tube marking guide, fin pattern and shroud. Using thick paper made a copy of shroud and glued it together with yellow glue. Glued engine block into forward end of motor mount tube even with edge with yellow glue. Glued wooden dowel into base of nose cone using yellow glue. Marked 1″ from aft end of motor mount tube and glued a centering ring in place with yellow glue. Glued second centering ring 1/2″ from forward end. Filleted both centering ring/motor mount tube joints with yellow glue. Glued motor mount assembly into aft end of body tube with aft centering ring even with body tube. Glued shroud over motor mount tube and aft end of body tube using yellow glue. Glued and screwed screw eye into base of nose cone.
- 11/21/2024 – Sanded all three fin sides with yellow emeryboard. Marked fin reference lines using fin marking guide onto body tube and shroud. Glued all three fins onto reference lines with yellow glue. Filleted fin/body tube joints with yellow glue. Glued launch lug between two fins with yellow glue.
- 11/22/2024 – Filleted launch lug/body tube joints with yellow glue. Glued shock cord assembly 2″ inside forward end of body tube with yellow glue.
- 12/15/2024 – Spray painted entire model with Rust-oleum #328373 High Gloss White.
- 12/20/2024 – Hand painted nose cone with Createx #A17893-25212 Opaque White.
- 12/26/20924 – Masked fins and nose cone shoulder then hand painted with Createx Opaue Blue #17893-25201. Sanded nose cone and fins with 220 grit sandpaper and wiped with alcohol wiper. Applied a second coat of paint.
- 12/27/2024 – Applied a third coat of Createx #17893-25201.
- 12/28/2024 – Removed masking.
- 12/29/2024 – Touched up fins using Cr eat ex #17893-25201 Opaque Blue and later removed masking.
- 01/09/2025 – Printed decals onto self adhesive material using Brother printer, cut them out and applied to model using BMS instruction photo. took picture of finished model. This completes construction of BMS #K14 Clone Astron Drifter.
