QCR Model #50
QCR’s Never Loop III is an outstanding boost glider (BG) designed for C engines (18mm). It is the bigger, wilder brother of the Never Loop II, and as such, has longer fuselage and wingspan. Also, the wings are made of thicker balsa (3/16″) to withstand the increased drag forces to which this model will be submitted.
Boost Gliders (BG’s) are a combination of a rocket and a glider. On the way up, there is a booster rocket that actually hauls up the glider structure. This booster rocket separates from the glider at ejection and returns to Earth using a streamer or parachute to slow its descent. At ejection, the glider begins its majestic return back to earth using aerodynamic lifting forces to make it slowly glide down. This mid-flight separation is the main characteristic that distinguishes the boost gliders from the rocket gliders (RG’s). For fine examples of RG’s, see the Easy Slide III and Easy Slide IV models, also from QCR.
